Coach Nick breaks down Game 6 from the 2006 NBA Finals. He examines whether Dwyane Wade and the rest of the Miami Heat got an inordinate amount of calls from the refs and how Dirk Nowitzki fell short in the 4th quarter.

    Hi Coach,

    At 6:03 – that is not a foul by Nowitzki. Wade created the contact and even extended a forearm shiver into Dirk’s abdomen.

    If Wade is getting that call, Dirk should be getting the foul called on Shaq at 7:57.

    The problem a lot of people had with the officiating was that other players weren’t getting the calls that Wade got. It seemed like any little contact on him was called a foul. If the refs want to call a tight game, that’s fine, but they need to apply it evenly across the board.

    At the end of game 5 – where Wade goes into the backcourt to catch the inbounds pass, he pushes Terry to the ground (no call) but he gets a slight bit of contact from Dirk and the refs call a game-deciding foul.

    That being said, the Mavs lost that series, not the refs. It’s their job to make adjustments and Avery Johnson didn’t do that. He left Adrian Griffin and Harris on Wade even as they were getting shredded.
