Playoff Series Outlook

The Spurs begin their championship run with a solid opponent in the Utah Jazz. Although the Spurs won the regular-season series 3-1, outside of 3-pointers, a lot of the statistics are pretty even. What’s most notable is that the Spurs shoot and make more 3-pointers than the Jazz.

The Jazz can make things difficult if they can rotate on penetration by Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. With Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors the Jazz do have a size advantage over the Spurs. How their athletic & young wing players- Alec Burks, Jeremy Evans, Gordon Hayward and C.J. Miles- will play in the playoff is anybody’s guess.

The Spurs’ have their own set of formidable set of young players- Gary Neal, Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard, and Patrick Mills. The difference here is that the Spurs have three superstars, & a cohesive system, that allows complimentary players to contribute without asking them to do too much.

What sets the Spurs apart is their ability to dictate style of play especially when facing more athletically gifted opponents. Given their talent, experience and 3-point shooting, the Spurs have what it takes to handle an interesting Jazz team.
